Most ethical companies list Deere

The Moline-based company is one of 136 honorees representing 20 countries and 44 industries to make Ethisphere’s 2024 Most Ethical list.

In addition to being a global leader in agricultural and forestry equipment manufacturing, the Fortune 100 company also is a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, the company said in a news release announcing the honor.

“Deere customers are tasked with the ultimate challenge to feed, clothe, fuel, and shelter the growing world population in a way that’s both profitable and sustainable. This honor underscores the company’s focus on supporting customers in achieving this goal,” the release said. “In demonstration of its commitment to ethical business and sustainability, Deere promotes environmental stewardship to protect the planet today and sustain the land for future generations to come.”

Leap Ambitions a guide

Deere said it is navigating that sustainability journey through its Leap Ambitions. That guide focuses on goals centered on boosting economic value and sustainability for customers and stakeholders.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to once again be recognized as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies,” John Deere’s Chief People Officer Felecia Pryor said in the release. “It’s a reflection of our deep-rooted commitment to operating with integrity, which drives everything we do globally.”

The Deere leader added, “This recognition really speaks to our strong ethical culture as propelled forward by our employees and stakeholders.”

Grounded in Ethisphere’s proprietary Ethics Quotient, the rating organization said, the World’s Most Ethical Companies assessment process includes more than 200 data points. They include culture; environmental and social practices; ethics and compliance activities; governance; diversity, equity, and inclusion. In addition, initiatives that support a strong value chain are considered.

The process serves as an operating framework to capture and codify the leading practices of organizations across industries and around the globe.
