The Elmore Marketplace store appears to be among dozens of others a rebranded Kirkland’s said it will close following a merger with the Bed Bath & Beyond into The Brand House Collective. That restructuring proposal is anticipating first quarter 2026 approval, the collective said

Bed Bath & Beyond, which filed for bankruptcy in 2023 and then converted into an online-only retailer owned by Overstock, is working under the restructured Brand House Collective to cut $20 million in costs. Bed Bath & Beyond’s 53rd Street, Davenport, location was an early casualty of that parent company’s financial problems. It announced it would close in February 2023 and has since been replaced by a Bob’s Discount Furniture store.

The Brand House Collective’s current store closings are in part  “driven by the removal of duplicated functions, overlapping systems, and operational inefficiencies,” that June 17, 2025, release said.

As part of its overall plan, the collective also has begun converting some of its former retail Kirkland’s locations into new smaller concept Bed Bath & Beyond Home stores. The first one opened its doors in Nashville, Tennessee, last August.

    What comes next?

The collective’s current strategy includes operating some 290 stores while pivoting toward a multi-brand operator model that includes Bed Bath & Beyond Home and Overstock, it said in a separate September 2025 news release.

There was no word on whether any stores in Illinois or Iowa were included in that group of new physical stores.

“The debut of our first Bed Bath & Beyond Home store was met with overwhelming demand, exceeding our expectations, and generating nationwide excitement that affirms the strength of this iconic brand,” Amy Sullivan, CEO of The Brand House Collective, said of that new Nashville site.

“That early success gives us confidence to accelerate the conversion of Kirkland’s Home stores. We are also unlocking new opportunities by monetizing the Kirkland’s Home name, both inside Bed Bath & Beyond stores and through wholesale partnerships with independent retailers, creating an exciting new chapter for a brand with a 60-year legacy,” she added in that release.

“This is just the beginning of what’s ahead.”

Kirkland’s was founded in 1966 by Carl and Robert Kirkland in Jackson, Tennessee as a small gift shop. It grew into a national chain focused on home furnishing, wall decor, lighting and seasonal items.
