Davenport hosts Block Grant workshop Nov. 29

The City of Davenport will hold a virtual workshop from 1:30-3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, to explain the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) YR49 subrecipient application process and requirements for July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.

Any agency or organization wishing to apply must attend the workshop. As a CDBG entitlement community, Davenport receives an annual allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

City staff will present the federal regulations and the fiscal, programmatic, and eligibility requirements. General information about eligibility and federal requirements can be found on the city’s website.

This year’s workshop will be held virtually via GoToMeeting. To view the workshop, contact Dawn Cameron, lead financial specialist, at Dawn.Cameron@davenportiowa.com to register and get login information. Pre-registration is due by 5 p.m., Monday, Nov. 28.

This year, Davenport received a $1.6 million allocation. The CDBG program’s goal, as outlined by Title I of the Housing & Community Development Act, is “…the development of a viable community, by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate incomes.”

Any not-for-profit organization (501(c)3 status) in existence a minimum of one year located within Davenport who provides eligible programs or services for low/moderate income Davenport residents may apply. Not-for-profit organizations not located within Davenport may apply if they provide a unique service for the entire Quad City area that has a physical location in Davenport.
