Rock Island County Board Chairman Richard “Quijas” Brunk was elected to a two-year term as president of the Illinois Association of County Board Members & Commissioners at its Nov. 18 board of directors meeting.
“The Illinois Association of County Board Members & Commissioners is a tremendous organization that does great work assisting counties all over the state in serving their constituents,” Mr. Brunk, whose office is in downtown Rock Island, said in a news release. “I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this organization for the next two years.”
The association is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization with a staff based in Springfield, Illinois. It assists the state’s counties in providing effective county governance to the people of Illinois, according to a news release.
The IACBM boasts a membership that includes 90 of the state’s 102 counties. It offers a full spectrum of association services. That includes education programs, legislative representation, leadership and networking opportunities, research assistance, insurance coverage, purchasing programs, and publications that keep counties well informed about local government issues.
