Davenport’s annual Corridor Cleanup event is set for 8-11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, with the goal of helping get litter out of area waterways and land.

Volunteers are needed for the event. Go here to register and learn more about the Corridor Cleanup.

“We can’t do it alone. The Corridor Cleanup is a great way to participate – take ownership in the community we live in, enjoy the outdoors, meet new people, and protect our local and downstream waterways litter finds its way into,” said Robbin Dunn, the event’s coordinator.

Volunteers will be picking up litter along major corridors throughout the city. Litter pickup consists of walking, bending and placing wastes in a bag for disposal and carries little hazard. This activity will take place in the boulevards of highly trafficked areas.

Volunteers will receive safety instruction and safety vests prior to the cleanup. Due to the proximity to passing traffic, some areas may not be suitable for younger children.

Some of the cleanup sites will include:

  • Brady Street, 46th Street to East 53rd Street.
  • East 53rd St., Grand Avenue to Eastern Avenue.
  • East Kimberly Road, Elmore Avenue to Jersey Ridge Road.
  • Rockingham Road, Ricker Hill Road to I-280.
  • West Locust St., I280 to Wisconsin.
  • West Kimberly Road, Hillandale to Pine Street.
  • Welcome Way, 50th Street to Kimberly Road.
