People in the region who need dermatological care now have a newer, bigger medical facility at their disposal.

Core Dermatology, located at 1950 E. 54th St., Davenport, was officially welcomed to the community on Thursday, Sept. 26, during a Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony. That event attracted about 40 people from the business community, including many Core employees.

Core Dermatology, which is located just north of the ultra-busy 53rd Street section of Davenport  and near the Eastern Avenue intersection, moved to its new 10,000-square-foot building this summer.

It has been seeing patients at that building since July 15, according to members of the Core staff. (The business was located a few blocks away  at 1800 E. 54th St., and was formerly known as Soderstorm Skin Institute.)

Exciting possibilities

“We’re really excited about the possibilities in this new office. … There’s a definite need for dermatology in the Quad Cities,” said Dr. Brady Evans, a dermatologist on staff at Core and one of the medical staff members at the Thursday ceremony.

He added that some of the advantages offered at the new location include a lot more room, more surgical suites, a state-of-the-art Mohs surgery center, laboratory as well as expanded medspa services. (Mohs surgery is used to treat skin cancer.)

Dr. Evans said the move to the bigger location has been in the works for years.

Soderstrom Skin Institute was rebranded as Core Dermatology, according to a March 19 news release from the company.

During Thursday’s ceremony, Deanna Jensen-Valliere, manager of member engagement with the Quad Cities Chamber, thanked Core Dermatology officials for investing in the Quad Cities and opening the new building.

Core Dermatology has about 250 employees company wide. It has offices in the Illinois communities of Peoria, Peru, Normal, Morton, Galesburg and Moline. In addition to Davenport, it also has offices in the Iowa cities of Clinton and Muscatine.

“Over the next few years, we will expand to neighboring states – Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana. For right now, this year and next year, we plan to  expand in the Illinois and Iowa markets we are already in,” said Adam Rosengren, CEO of Core, in an interview this spring.

The Davenport office is open weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
