Set in 1920s Chicago and based on real-life murders and trials, “Chicago” tells the story of Roxie Hart, an aspiring vaudevillian who murders her lover. In jail, she meets her idol, double-murderess Velma Kelly. Both women hire the lawyer Billy Flynn and compete for the spotlight of newspaper reporters.

With music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Kander and Bob Fosse, “Chicago” offers a satirical look at fame, justice, and the media. Iconic songs include “All That Jazz,” “Razzle Dazzle,” “Mr. Cellophane,” “The Cell Block Tango,” and “They Both Reached for the Gun.”
