Chuck E. Cheese closes in Davenport

The Chuck E. Cheese in Davenport closed its doors, effective Sunday, April 7, according to a news release from the company. 

The location at Old Town Shopping Center, 903 E. Kimberly Rd, Davenport, opened as a Showbiz Pizza on Feb. 25, 1981, according to the Cheese Pedia website. It was converted into a Chuck E. Cheese in the 1990s as part of a nation-wide rebranding.   

The company said in a statement, “Thank you for your interest in our Davenport location. We are always evaluating our real estate and development strategies to ensure these align with our strategic goals. We made the difficult decision to close effective Sunday, April 7. We will continue to seek new opportunities for families to enjoy Chuck E. Cheese and remain committed to delivering fun, family-friendly experiences across all our locations and appreciate the ongoing support from our communities.”

According to the Chuck E. Cheese website, there are 484 Chuck E. Cheese locations remaining in the U.S., 19 in Illinois and two in Iowa.
