A downtown Davenport business that specializes in making chocolate treats and other goodies soon will be closing its doors.
Chocolate Manor, located at 110 E. Second St., will close its retail shop on Saturday, Sept. 28, according to Randyl Mohr, the business owner.
“After 23 years of serving the Quad Cities delicious chocolates, I would like to announce that I will be moving on from Chocolate Manor. It has been a privilege and pleasure to share my family’s recipes with you. I have been with Chocolate Manor since I was 13 and have been the sole owner for the last seven years so it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, but I am excited to move on and see what’s next for me,” Ms. Mohr announced on the Chocolate Manor’s Facebook page on Sunday, Sept. 1.
Ms. Mohr added that the business is for sale. “We have the best customers and secret family recipes that could make a winning investment for anyone who wants to put in the work. If interested, please reach out to me at [email protected] to discuss,” she said in her announcement.
Even though the retail shop will be closing, chocolates and other treats will still be available. Ms. Mohr also announced that she will be serving some clients and will be doing some online sales.
“After our retail has closed, I will still be serving some corporate clients and will inevitably have additional products available as I navigate my transition away from Chocolate Manor in the coming months. If time allows, I will be announcing dates for popup events at my shop and online sales so we can provide you with our chocolates until my last day,” she added.
Some of the goodies available at Chocolate Manor include: English truffles, dark chocolate pecan truffles, cake pops, caramel apples, blueberry muffin truffles and Mayan truffles.
Until the closing, the business is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. It is closed Sunday through Tuesday.
“Thank you so much to all of our fans, friends and employees. It has been a wonderful experience that was made possible through your support. I will always hold the relationships we forged dearly. As I prepare to move onto my next phase of life, I want to remind you all to be excellent to each other and eat dessert first,” Ms. Mohr wrote on the company’s Facebook page.
