The Quad Cities Regional Business Journal was again privileged to host the annual Fastest Growing Companies awards event on Sept. 7. The companies recognized are the so-called gazelles that are creating the jobs and the wealth that economic development and public officials covet. These companies and their leaders are making success happen through grit and determination, and oftentimes with a lack of appreciation. That’s why these awards are so important. They are essentially a big regional thank you to these entrepreneurs and their hardworking employees.Special kudos to Davenport-based Centennial Tax & Accounting for taking the top spot with 418% revenue growth between 2020 and 2022.Making the list once is a great accomplishment. Continuing to make the list year after year is even more impressive and difficult to achieve.Schroeder Associates — a leading manufacturer’s representative agency — was runner-up again this year with 250.37% revenue growth, and Revive at the Group Med Spa, last year’s winner, came in at a strong third place this year with 153.22%.Other companies making the list two years in a row are Crawford Company, C&W Transport Solutions, Ecogistics, IMEG Corp., Shaw Electric and Greenspace Associates.Help us celebrate and recognize these companies and their leaders.
A good summer for the QC International Airport
The success of a region can also be reflected in the success of its airport, and vice versa. In May, July and August, the Quad Cities International Airport recorded a historic number of air traffic movements, including exceeding 5,200 movements in July, according to a QCIA news release. Airport officials credited the recent emphasis on supporting general aviation and pilot training for the increase in traffic.“It’s been tough for regional airports as airlines focused attention on larger aircraft and airports to recover from the pandemic,” said Benjamin Leischner, A.A.E., executive director, Quad Cities International Airport, said in the release. “But we’re feeling more optimistic than ever about the future of the QC Airport. It’s taken a dedicated staff and committed community to get us here, and we’re using this momentum to take us into the future.”The airport also announced earlier in the summer the launch of a twice daily service to Charlotte Douglas International Airport with American Airlines.Air service is ultra competitive and not something to be taken for granted. We are heartened by the success of the airport and the fastest growing companies. These are excellent indicators of a region that is making economic progress.
