Cardiovascular Medicine, PLLC (CVM) and the Trinity Health Foundation have awarded $55,000 in scholarships to 26 area students pursuing undergraduate degrees in math, science, or medical sciences.
The scholarships are funded through an endowed fund established by CVM physicians at the Trinity Health Foundation. Since 2008, the fund has provided more than $500,000 in scholarships. CVM cardiologists have endowed more than $1 million toward the fund.
“We are honored to have the opportunity to award these wonderful students with a scholarship and advance the future of medicine and science,” said Dr. Sanjeev Puri, president of Cardiovascular Medicine, PLLC. “These scholarships will go a long way in providing our students with the tools to become successful physicians, engineers, and scientists.”
Mary Macumber Schmidt, president of Trinity Health Foundation, expressed gratitude for the ongoing investment from CVM physicians. “Their generosity not only eases the financial burden of education but also inspires a new generation to pursue careers in science, medicine, and technology,” she said.
The CVM Youth Mentoring Scholarship supports and advances quality cardiac patient care through education and research and promotes excellence in math and sciences.
