The Quad City Botanical Center will host a series of houseplant-themed fundraising events in September, aimed at connecting plant enthusiasts with their local botanical garden community. Proceeds from all events will support the education department and future exhibits.

    Plant Parent Night Out

The series kicks off with “Plant Parent Night Out” on Thursday, Sept. 4, from 6 to 9 p.m. This 21+ event costs $25 for adults and $20 for adult members. Activities include plant-themed headshots by Wezz De La Rosa Photography, a plant show and tell, a cutting swap, plant board games, crafting, and a cash bar. Attendees who purchase tickets in advance will receive a 20% discount on plants, excluding consignment items.

    Plant Bingo

On Friday, Sept. 12, “Plant Bingo” will offer a family-friendly evening. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the event running from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 per player. The event features plant-themed music bingo with the QCBC and Think & Drink Entertainment, offering prizes and raffle items. A cash bar will be available, along with snacks and drinks for purchase. Outside beverages are not permitted. Tables will be set for “family-style” seating. Guests wearing a plant-themed item will receive a free raffle ticket. Advance ticket purchasers also receive 20% off plants on event night, excluding consignment.

Plant Adoption Drop Off and The Great Garden Cleanout

The center will also conduct its annual plant adoption service from Sept. 12 to Sept. 27. Houseplants needing new homes can be dropped off during general admission hours in the lobby. New this year, the center will also accept perennials, garden decor, garden tools, and other garden and plant-related items.

These donated items, along with inventory from the center, will be available for purchase at “The Great Garden Cleanout,” a revamped version of the Fall Houseplant Sale, on Sept. 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
