The Quad-City Times Bix 7 road race will continue to use the parking lot area of the former Quad-City Times building, 500 E. Third St., Davenport, for its post-race celebrations.

That’s the word from Bix 7 race officials in a news release on Wednesday, April 22.

After some initial uncertainty when the former newspaper property was listed for sale, race organizers said they are grateful to ensure this long-standing gathering place will once again welcome thousands of runners, walkers, and families for post-race parties and gatherings. The site will host finishers of the Arconic Jr Bix race on Friday, July 24, and Prairie Farms Quick Bix, and the Quad-City Times Bix 7 race on Saturday, July 25.

That former newspaper building is under pending new ownership by the Geifman Group. The Bettendorf-based Geifman Group has evolved from a local grocery business into a diversified real estate company with experience in property management and the construction and development of commercial, industrial and office space.

In a recent article for the Quad Cities Regional Business Journal, Steve Geifman, president and managing partner of the Geifman Group, said this about the former QC Times building, which has about 122,000 square feet of space: “We’ve got nothing planned as of yet. There’s still a press in there. It’s about 4.5 stories tall and we’re excited about what we can do with that.”

“As race director, I couldn’t be more excited to work with Steve and the Geifman Group,” said Michelle Juehring in the news release. “They are a long-standing, family-owned business that truly understands the Quad Cities. Their values – community, family, and long-term investment – align perfectly with what the Bix has represented since 1975. That gives us great confidence moving forward.”

“We’re honored to be part of this Quad Cities tradition,” said Mr. Geifman in the news release. “The Bix is special to so many, and we’re excited to welcome everyone to the property and be part of race week.”
