
Nathan Bekke has been named chief operating officer of Lee Enterprises, Inc., the Davenport-based publisher announced.
Mr. Bekke previously served as Lee’s operating vice president and vice president of Audience Strategy since 2020.
Lee President and CEO Kevin Mowbray credited Mr. Bekke’s role in the company’s transformation, citing his contributions to revenue growth and the significant increase in digital audience, leading to industry-leading digital-only audience growth.
In a news release, Mr. Bekke said “Lee is well positioned for a dynamic and successful future thanks to the tremendous progress we’ve made becoming a digital-first company.”
Mr. Bekke was first appointed vice president in January 2015. He began his career with Lee in 1988. His responsibilities include news, audience, advertising, production, information technology and BLOX Digital operations.
He has been involved with various charitable, community and statewide organizations and currently serves on the board of News Media Alliance. He has two adult children and three adult stepchildren with his wife, Trista.
