The Bechtel Charitable Trust has awarded a local Girl Scout program $50,000 to support leadership programming efforts in Scott County.

Thanks to this investment, Girl Scouts will continue delivering high-quality, research-backed programming that empowers girls across Scott County to build confidence, develop essential life skills, and grow into the next generation of leaders.

“I support Girl Scouts because the organization promotes a healthy lifestyle for young girls through outdoor activities and empowers them to become future leaders,” said Jeff Bittner, trustee of Bechtel Trust. “It is one of the few remaining aspects of society that positively influences young girls’ life choices.”

To create kind, confident, and competent leaders, the Girl Scout program centers around the outdoors, STEM, life skills, and entrepreneurship. Activities for Girl Scouts are fun and research-backed, with each badge, field trip, and event building independence, creativity, and resilience.
