Ronald Calvert was at the Bettendorf Community Center on Wednesday, Aug. 30, to tell people about the home care services his agency offers. Chad Crotts was at the center to talk about personal training and online coaching. And Kate Rothenberger was talking about financial services.

The three were among about 16 representatives of area businesses and agencies that offered information on their services and products as part of the Bettendorf Business Network (BBN) Health Fair at the 2204 Grant St. community center.

Vendors, who filled 16 tables, included Rock Valley Physical Therapy, LivWell Seniors, Aetna, Farm Bureau Financial Services, Life & Family Medical, Konquerfit, Home Instead Quad Cities and Ameriprise Financial and others.

All were at the BBN event to offer services and products to help people in the community.

“We’re here to educate people; tell them about the services that lets them stay in their homes,” said Mr. Calvert, general manager at Home Instead Quad Cities.

That organization offers a variety of services – such as personal care, transportation, hospice support and meals and nutrition and more – that allows people to stay in their homes.

Near Mr. Calvert’s table at the Health Fair, Dr. Julie Schroeder, executive director and physician with Life & Family Medical, was there to “let people know they have alternatives to health care.”

“You receive quality healthcare that isn’t rushed, fits your schedule, and offers transparent pricing. We maintain the dignity of each individual and their relationship with God, family, and doctor,” according to the Life & Family Medical website.

In addition to medical services, Health Fair participants also offered opportunities for people to get or stay in good physical shape. Mr. Crotts with Konquerfit, 2371 Cumberland Square Drive, Bettendorf, was at the Wednesday event to tell people about some of the personal training, small group training and online coaching his business offers. “We’re here to get the word out on what we offer,” he said.

But BBN’s Health Fair wasn’t just focused on physical fitness. Business reps were also on hand to talk about financial fitness. For instance, Eric Barta talked to visitors at his table about the services offered by Farm Bureau Financial Services. And Ms. Rothenberger, a financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial, had some of the same topics  in mind at her table.

“We’re here to connect with people. We’re here talking about wealth management and long-term care,” she added.

The business and service reps also said they were hoping to connect with more people from the community during the fair’s opening hour. The event, held in the gym area at the Bettendorf Community Center, only attracted a few visitors in that opening hour Wednesday afternoon.

But the business and services reps said they were ready to talk about health, financial and many other matters during the Health Fair.
