The Davenport-based advertising, branding, and digital media agency TAG announced it has hired Mike Bawden as its new senior vice president of marketing and brand strategy.

Mr. Bawden, the former president of Bawden & Associates, brings more than 40 years of experience, including work with clients nationwide on brand-building and marketing issues.

“I’m excited to be working with the team at TAG,” Mr. Bawden said in a news release Tuesday, Jan. 20. “It’s a creative group with diverse interests and specialties who will be able to breathe life into the plans and programs we develop for clients. The sense of energy and enthusiasm is palpable here.”

Mr. Bawden began working as an errand boy in his family’s advertising agency while in high school. After graduating from Southern Methodist University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in television/radio and film production, he started his professional advertising career in Dallas, Texas, before returning to Davenport to work for Bawden & Associates, where he later became CEO and president.

In 1999, Mr. Bawden worked with other agency principals to restructure the ECCO International Public Relations Network, providing global public relations and marketing support.

His experience also includes time as an adjunct professor of marketing and advertising at St. Ambrose University and Augustana College, as well as being a featured speaker at national and international conferences on branding and brand management.

He also served four years as mayor of his hometown of Riverdale, Iowa.
