Bass Street Landing adds winter concerts to lineup

Free concerts offered at Stoney Creek Hotel

Moline Centre’s popular Bass Street Landing Concert Series is moving indoors for two winter concerts on Jan. 18 and Feb. 15.

The Thursday night concerts are free and open to guests of all ages. The concerts, which will be from 6 to 8 p.m., will be held in the ballroom at the Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center. It’s located east of the Bass Street Landing plaza. Funktastic Five will play Jan. 18; The Tailfins Band will play Feb. 15.

“The outdoor summer concert series at Bass Street Landing is still four months away and we have a lot of cold, Midwest weather to deal with between now and then,” Amanda Bolt, the concert series organizer, said in a Renew Moline news release. “So, we partnered with Stoney Creek Hotel and KONE to offer some summer fun in the middle of winter.”

Admission is free

There is no charge for admission and food and beverage will be available for purchase. Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center is located at 101 18th St. Attendees are asked not to bring in outside food or beverages.

“The hope for the winter concerts is to give our community a free opportunity for live music and dancing for the whole family in the winter,” Ms. Bolt told the QCBJ. Borrowing a tagline from the event’s Facebook page, she added “Why should summer have all the fun?”

The Funktastic 5 performance is sponsored by KONE. Stoney Creek Hotel is the venue sponsor for both winter concerts. Unlike the outdoor venue, seating will be provided for concert-goers.

Launched in 2010, the Bass Street Landing Concert Series now draws thousands of Quad Citians to the outdoor plaza for the summer Thursday night concerts. Ms. Bolt estimated that the weekly concerts each draw more than 1,000 people to the plaza. The indoor concerts will have a capacity of about 400 due to the space.
