The Ascentra Scholarship Program has awarded its 2025 scholarships to 12 student members of the credit union.
These future leaders were selected to receive $1,000 each to help them get one step closer to achieving their academic and professional goals, Ascentra said in a news release.
Five $1,000 scholarships were awarded to traditional high school students planning to enter college, and five $1,000 scholarships were awarded to non-traditional students, aged 19 or over, planning to attend college or earn an advanced degree. Two $1,000 scholarships also were awarded to students entering a trades program.
Under the Ascentra Scholarship Program, students can apply every year they are enrolled in an accredited institution or program for the scholarship.
Ascentra did not release the students’ full names.
This year’s traditional scholarship winners are:
- Bennett T. of Bettendorf.
- Everhett W. of Ankeny, Iowa.
- Riley K. of Riverdale.
- Zachery M. of Clinton, Iowa.
- Gerald “Jerry” C. of Bettendorf.
The non-traditional, or continuing education, winners are:
- Antonio V. of Moline.
- Jadyn C. of Erie, Illinois.
- Payton L. of Iowa City.
- Isaac T. of Clinton.
- Sarah G., Bettendorf.
The vocational school or trades program winners are:
- Lucas K., Clinton.
- Stacey B., Clinton.
“Ascentra believes that investing in education is a powerful way to support the future of our communities,” said Linda Andry, president and CEO of Ascentra Credit Union. “Our scholarship program is more than just financial assistance; it’s a commitment to helping young members reach their potential and achieve their dreams.”
The program began in 1997 and has awarded $162,000 in scholarships since its inception.
The competition is announced every October with a deadline of the end of March of the following year.
