Applications are now being accepted for DavenportU, the City of Davenport’s 10-week citizens academy program that gives residents an in-depth look at local government.

“We welcome Davenport residents who demonstrate a passion for learning more about their local government,” said Mayor Mike Matson in a city DavenportU news release.

Sessions will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, beginning April 1. The program will conclude with graduation at the Wednesday, May 22 City Council meeting. The application deadline is Friday, Feb. 23.

Participants in the DavenportU spring cohort will learn the basics about city government, community development processes, community policing and budget planning, the release states.

DavenportU enrollment is limited, and participants must be age 18 or older. For more information, a session schedule or to apply, visit davenportiowa.com/citizensacademy
