American Legion Post 711 to hold 75th birthday dinner 

BLUE GRASS – The Iowa American Legion Post 711 in Blue Grass, Iowa, will hold its 75th birthday dinner celebration at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, at the Legion Hall, 106 S. Juniata St., Blue Grass. 

In addition to celebrating its 75th anniversary, the post will recognize winners from the Blue Grass and Buffalo Elementary School “What the Flag Means to Me” flag essay contest.

Also, on April 20, Post 711 will host the Iowa American Legion 2nd District Conference at the legion hall, and a banquet luncheon at the Blue Grass Community Center.

The post is also home to  Abigail Johnson, the creator of the Veterans Tech Support project, where veterans can get help with computer issues and learn basic computer skills. 

The 2nd District comprises 46 Posts in Scott, Clinton, Jackson,  Jones, Linn and Dubuque counties.  It is the largest in Iowa with over 5,600 members.
