Alzheimer’s Association Walk raises over $100,000

    Nearly 800 Quad Cities residents participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Vibrant Arena at The Mark, raising more than $100,000 so far for Alzheimer’s Association care, support and research programs.

    Fundraising continues through the end of the year at alz.org/walk.

    Team Senior Star – Elmore Place was this year’s top team, led by Baylee Bradley, raising more than $14,000. Other top teams included Team Memory Disorders Clinic, led by Kayla Ehrman, with nearly $7,000; Team 2 Awesome Families Fighting Together, led by Teri Jared, with more than $4,000; and Team Jen George, led by Jennifer George, with nearly $2,500.

    More than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, a leading cause of death in the United States. Over 11 million family members and friends provide care for those with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In Iowa and Illinois, more than 300,000 people are living with the disease and 410,000 are caregivers.
