Sally Davies has received the 2025 Support Group Facilitator of the Year Award for her decade of service leading a support group for Alzheimer’s caregivers in eastern Iowa, the Alzheimer’s Association Iowa Chapter announced.
Ms. Davies, a community relations coordinator at Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa and Sunset Park Place in Dubuque, prioritizes the needs of the group, offering virtual options, changing meeting locations and focusing on different topics to build community and support caregivers, the association said in a news release Monday, April 21.
More than 11 million Americans provide care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In Iowa, more than 62,000 people are living with Alzheimer’s disease and nearly 100,000 people are caregivers.
The Alzheimer’s Association will host its annual Memories in the Making event from 5:30-9 p.m. Friday, May 2, at the Vibrant Arena at The Mark in Moline.
