CLINTON, Iowa – A new $5 million building in this community is almost complete, and nearly ready to be the new home for businesses.
The 36,000-square-foot building will be the headquarters of Adcraft – a leading provider of custom apparel and merchandise. It is expected to open in the coming weeks. The building, under construction since last fall, is located at 1300 19th Ave. NW in the Lyons Business & Technology Park in Clinton.
“We are rounding the corner coming into the final stages of the building,” Colin Sullivan, one of the owners of Adcraft, told the Quad Cities Regional Business Journal this week.
He added that the top priority is to get Adcraft’s retail store – called Sully’s Sports – open in a portion of the new building before Black Friday. It falls on Nov. 28 this year. Once open, Sully’s will sell sports goods, apparel and clothing.
“This will be its own storefront within the building and will be branded separately from Adcraft, even though we’re the same company,” Mr. Sullivan added.
Date ‘moving targets’
Adcraft expects to move into its new home in a few weeks. The office team is now scheduled to move from its current location at 801 S. Third St., Clinton, to the new building in mid to late December. The production and warehouse portions of the business will move in after the holidays, probably in January.
Those possible moving dates are a “moving target” as the schedule could change in the coming weeks, he added.
The contractor for the building is Build To Suit, Bettendorf. The architect is the Joseph Architectural Group, Rock Island.
Adcraft, founded in 1974 by Terry and Barb Sullivan, is a family owned and operated business offering custom apparel and merchandise services nationwide. In 2012, two of their sons, Dan and Colin Sullivan, took over ownership and are continuing the legacy.
Adcraft is more than a printwear business. In addition to shirts, hats, jerseys and other sports and business items, the company also offers many promotional items such as cups, water bottles, tumblers, beer steins, mugs, ice scrapers and many other items.
Adcraft’s acquisition of longtime team dealer Temple’s Sporting Goods in 2014 expanded its product range and brand offerings including retail sporting goods. (Temple’s has a location in The Plex area of Bettendorf at 5171 Competition Drive.)
