The Bi-State Regional Commission is inviting Quad Citizens to weigh in on future development of the metro area’s transportation system through an online survey.
To take the public input survey, visit here and share your transportation and economic development opinions. The deadline to participate is by Wednesday, April 30.
According to Bi-State, it connects neighbors, businesses, and our community. It gets us to where we want and need to go.
A reliable and efficient transportation system supports a dynamic, connected, and flourishing region and will allow the Quad Cities Region to thrive. Bi-State leads the area’s transportation planning efforts and regional transportation priorities are established every five years in the Quad Cities Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP).
The new plan, known as Thrive 2055, will examine regional economic and population changes and influences on transportation, which in turn, provide insights into the transportation needs and allow communities to plan for the future.
Exciting changes?
The planning commission said 2055 can bring some exciting changes to the region’s roads, bridges, bus routes, trails, sidewalks, and freight systems. The future plan could include new travel options such as passenger rail connections and well-used bus services for daily commutes.
With more than 2,000 miles of roadways to maintain, the Quad Cities also needs to think about how it can preserve the current transportation system while looking ahead.
Over this year, Bi-State staff will work with local officials to prepare a full draft document update by early 2026. These updates will include goals, existing and proposed transportation systems, and other infrastructure/development recommendations.
