It attracted about 20 people from the business community and Brakes Plus workers, and was held to welcome the new business to Davenport.

Brakes Plus opened in late January near WalMart in between Burger King and Discount Tire. It has about six employees. “People like it. They like our prices. … Some people still don’t know we’re here,” said Mr. Irk. But, he added that might be changing as Brakes Plus continues to get more customers every day.Brakes Plus offers a wide variety of services. They include brake services, oil and filter change, fluid changes, alignment, air conditioning and more.While the building itself is complete, landscaping around the building was still in progress on Monday. In fact a landscaping crew was at work Monday. “Eventually, it’s going to be very pretty around here,” Mr. Irk said with a laugh.During Monday’'s ceremony, Deanna Jensen-Valliere, Quad Cities Chamber manager of member engagement, thanked Brakes Plus officials for their investment in the community.That investment in the Quad Cities will continue in the coming months.Mr. Irk told the Quad Cities Regional Business Journal that a new Brakes Plus shop is currently in the works and is scheduled to open this October near the WalMart store at 3101 W. Kimberly Road, Davenport. Another Brakes Plus is being planned for Dubuque, Iowa.The Elmore Avenue store is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays; and closed on Sundays. The company has its headquarters in Centennial, Colorado, and today has more than 170 locations in six states.
