The Moline Public Art Commission, in partnership with Quad City Arts, has selected Moline artist Jeremiah Ketner to create the next mural on Bass Street Landing.
Chosen from 13 local submissions, Mr. Ketner’s vibrant and colorful vision will further enhance the city’s growing art scene, according to the art commission.
Mr. Ketner’s murals are featured nationwide, including in Nordstrom stores and murals throughout the Chicago area. He holds a BFA from Columbus College of Art and Design and an MFA from Southern Illinois University. His work has been exhibited in solo shows in Chicago and New York, as well as in prestigious group exhibitions across the U.S. and internationally.
Known for his “small and round” aesthetic, inspired by his time in Japan, Mr. Ketner blends traditional techniques with pop culture influences. His custom toy art also has gained a strong collector following, the commission said in a news release.
Celebrated for his vibrant environments and dreamlike characters, Mr. Ketner’s signature style combines whimsical patterns with imaginative female figures and richly colored landscapes, often inspired by Japanese culture.
Quad City Arts is facilitating the mural project, overseeing all aspects from the call for submissions to artist support. Dedicated to placemaking, the organization creates vibrant public spaces that foster community connections and cultural enrichment.
Scheduled for completion in November, the mural will add a dynamic new element to Bass Street Landing and downtown Moline. The Moline Public Art Commission and Quad City Arts aim to showcase artists, connect them with the community, and inspire the region through the arts.
