
A Minority Business Summit will be presented 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Hotel Blackhawk in downtown Davenport.

This free event, presented by Wells Fargo and the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, is designed to empower minority entrepreneurs and business owners.
The keynote speaker at the summit will be Kit Evans-Ford, who will present “A Founder’s Story: Navigating the Ups and Downs of Entrepreneurship.”
Other parts of the summit will also feature workshops on digital marketing strategies, leveraging technology, scaling your business and funding opportunities.
Here is part of the agenda for the summit:
- 9 a.m.: Welcome and message from presenting sponsor Wells Fargo.
- 9:10 a.m.: Technology and AI: Leveraging technology for business success, Khyree McCorkle, Twin State Technical Services.
- 9:50 a.m.: Scaling your business: Strategies for growth and expansion, Ann Friederichs and Maria Ramos-Elisondo, Small Business Development Center at Western Illinois University.
- 10:45 a.m.: Ways to fund your business: Access to capital, Beth Dunn, Quad City Bank & Trust.
- 12:55 p.m.: Keynote speech by Kit Evans-Ford.
- 2:10 p.m.: Digital marketing strategies: Effective online marketing tactics by Amy Behning, Mindfire Communications.
- 2:50 p.m.: Minority business owner panel.
The summit will have free parking, and lunch will be provided.
