“It’s been a great start. So far, we’ve washed about 1,000 vehicles,” Ryan Scheldrup, director of operations for Mammoth Holdings, the parent company for Silverstar, said during a Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday afternoon, Sept. 13.The new car wash at Five Points actually opened for business about a week ago and has been receiving a warm reception from Davenport residents, Mr. Scheldrup added.“We like the idea of bringing something fresh to this property (at Five Points),” he said. Some features of the new Davenport car wash include:
The business will have 10 to 15 employees.
There are 14 vacuum cleaner stations that include air pumps.
The car wash has a 100-foot tunnel with a conveyor belt system.
It is a touchless car wash system with high-pressure chemical solutions to remove dirt without physical contact. The cleaning solution is designed to break down and loosen dirt particles, which are then rinsed away with high-pressure water.
Friday’s opening ceremonies also included free Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches to customers. Also, a Silverstar Car Wash worker held up a “Free Washes” sign at Five Points to attract customers.
