Jeff Sandburg, chief operating officer at Legat, thanked the company’s employees for their hard work over the years to help make Legat a success. “You are the backbone to our achievements,” he told a crowd of about 50 employees and guests from the business community during a brief ceremony Thursday.That ceremony included a Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony, and food and drink in the Fairway Room on the second floor of the new Iron Tee. Legat employees – many of them dressed in orange Legat T-shirts – also got the chance to visit the second floor driving range and hit a few golf balls.“This is a monumental day … We are here to celebrate 60 years of hard work,” said Scott Naumann, Bettendorf mayor pro-tem and a member of the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors.One of those employees helping the company celebrate was Christopher Shoemaker, a project associate with Legat’s Moline office. Mr. Shoemaker, who joined Legat about a year and three months ago, said he enjoys working for the company because of the good work, “colorful people and colorful projects.”“We all have one goal in mind – give (the client) something they can proud of,” he added.Legat’s downtown Moline office, located at 1515 5th Ave. in Suite 108 at Heritage Place, celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2022.Legat Architects was founded in 1964 in a Waukegan, Illinois, home and then moved into a renovated church in the same city. “Over the decades, we expanded our reach, opened additional studios across the Midwest, and tackled high-profile design projects. Today, our portfolio spans over 30 countries, yet we remain committed to the communities where we live and work,” according to information from the company.In addition to the Moline location, Legat has offices in Iowa City; Columbus, Ohio; and Illinois offices in Oak Brook, Gurnee and Chicago. The company has about 85 employees across the six offices.
