DUBUQUE, Iowa – Honkamp, P.C., a Top 10 Midwest CPA and business advisory group, is expanding its footprint in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City corridor with the addition of a highly respected CPA firm.
The Brems Group, LLP, a firm with about 20 employees in Cedar Rapids and Coralville, Iowa, is merging into Honkamp effective today, Aug. 1, Honkamp announced in a news release Wednesday, July 31.
After the merger, that experienced and talented staff, including firm leaders Jim Brems, Brian Coller and John Warren, will continue to serve their current clients from those two offices.
Honkamp has had a strong presence in the Corridor, where its Hiawatha office has operated since the late 1990s.
The new locations in Cedar Rapids and Coralville will increase the firm’s ability to provide top-notch CPA and business advisory services to even more clients.
Expands client base

The Brems Group proudly touts that its leaders have been helping companies since the 1970s. The merger into Honkamp only will bolster the ability to assist local businesses, according to Mr. Coller, a partner with The Brems Group.

Headquartered in Dubuque, Honkamp has nine other offices in Iowa (including Davenport), Missouri and Wisconsin.
Latest acquisition
This acquisition marks Honkamp’s fifth in three years. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Honkamp added Nigl Accounting LLP, based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in December 2021. In November 2022, Honkamp acquired Vaassen, Pluemer CPAs, LLC, of Platteville, Wisconsin, and the Cedar Falls, Iowa, office of Gosling & Co., P.C. Most recently, Schowalter & Jabouri, P.C., merged into the firm in December 2023.
