Salvation Army puts out call for clothing, household goods

The Salvation Army in the Quad Cities is in urgent need of donations of gently used clothing and household goods, the local organization said in a release last week.

The Salvation Army’s Thrift Stores rely on public donations of items to fund its Adult Rehabilitation Program. That includes its Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) at 4001 Brady St., Davenport. Donations directly support the Salvation Army’s ability to provide essential rehabilitation services for those battling substance use.

The ARC has been in operation for more than 100 years. It provides rehabilitation services to communities all across the U.S. The organization’s ARC is a 180-day residential program. ARC provides spiritual, social, and emotional assistance to people who have lost the ability to cope with problems and provide for themselves.

The Salvation Army provides services at no cost to the program participants. The organization receives no government funding to operate the program. As such community donations of clothing, household goods, etc. are essential to ensuring the continued provision of services in the Quad Cities.

Donations can be dropped off at any of the organization’s Thrift Stores. Donations are accepted from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday at Salvation Army store locations in the Quad Cities as well as Clinton, Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
