Two athletes have been selected to be the Russell Beat the Elite competitors. They will be announced at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, June 27, just before the Bix at Six run – the practice run for the Quad-City Times Bix 7 road race.
The announcement will be made outside the Quad-City Times building at Fourth and LeClaire streets, Davenport.
The Russell Beat the Elite will be given a head start at the Bix 7 race, based on their previous finishes. If they beat the first elite runner to the finish line, they will each receive $2,500 from the event’s sponsor, Russell Group.
The 50th running of the Quad-City Times Bix 7 road race will start at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 27.
Both the seven- and two-mile course start at Brady Street Hill, are lined with live bands, cheering crowds and finish at Walmart’s big post-race party.
