Blue Grass Elementary ranked a top Iowa elementary school

Davenport Community Schools

Blue Grass Elementary School was named one of the best elementary schools in Iowa through the U.S. News and World Report Best Elementary School rankings, the Davenport Community School District announced in a news release.

The rankings were based on students’ proficiency scores in reading and mathematics, state assessment scores and socioeconomic demographics. Blue Grass Elementary scored in the top 15% out of the 942 Iowa public elementary schools on the list.

“We are excited to see Blue Grass Elementary school represented in these rankings,” said TJ Schneckloth, Davenport Community School District superintendent, in the release.

“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students at Blue Grass and across our entire district,” he added.

Blue Grass Elementary celebrated the recognition with an assembly featuring players from the QC Storm Hockey Team. The Blue Grass PTA also sponsored a school trip so all students could attend a QC Storm game earlier this month.

“We are grateful to have our school recognized as one of the best elementary schools in the state of Iowa,” said Sara Gott, the school’s principal, in the release. “It takes sustained teamwork to serve our students well, and this recognition reflects our school’s commitment to ensuring all of our students reach their full potential.”
