Griffin’s Floorcrafters marks 75 years with Wednesday events

Griffin’s Floorcrafters will host a 75-year anniversary celebration at its downtown Moline showroom at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, along with an open house from 2 to 6 p.m.

The public is invited and snacks and beverages will be available at the celebrations at Floorcrafters, located at 1305 Fifth Ave.

Floorcrafters first opened downtown Moline in 1948. Cousins Bob Stahl and Jim Barton set the business’ foundation, offering a variety of decorating selections and expert installation. In 1978, that torch was passed to brothers Steve and Bruce Griffin, according to a news release.

The brothers grew the business into the commercial flooring market and expanded their showroom to make it the ideal place for consumers to design and decorate new homes or remodel existing spaces.

Then, in 2018, Steve Griffin’s oldest son, Mike Griffin, took over operations of the now Griffin’s Floorcrafters. He brought with him 15 years of knowledge from the manufacturing and wholesale sides of the floor-covering industry, the release states.

“We have the largest carpet showroom in the Quad Cities, and our tile, wood and vinyl showrooms have a variety of products unlike any other store in the Quad Cities,” Mike Griffin said in the release.

“We also cater to the ‘DIY’ market. Our Factory Outlet features a variety of carpet, tile, wood, LVP (luxury vinyl plank), LVT (luxury vinyl tile), and vinyl close-outs and remnants that are deeply discounted. As I said, we have something for everyone.”
