
The U.S. Coast Guard will host Mission Mighty Mississippi, a free family event to showcase career opportunities, engage with the community and display its capabilities on Saturday, Oct. 21, at Schwiebert Riverfront Park, 101 17th St., Rock Island.
Coast Guard Atlantic Area Commander Vice Adm. Kevin Lunday invites the public to interact with Coast Guard crew members, aircraft and boats during the event, which will run from 10 a.m to 3 p.m.Â
The event will feature interactive displays, including MH-65 Dolphin helicopters, response boats, a K-9 and marksmanship unit; a search and rescue demonstration; a video gaming tournament hosted by the Coast Guard Gaming team; and a cooking demonstration by Coast Guard culinary staff. The event also will have information available on the Coast Guard’s capabilities as well as its officer and enlisted career paths.  Â
