The Hawaiian Bros Island Grill is getting ready to open its first Iowa restaurant – a new location on 53rd Avenue in Davenport – in a few days.
The new restaurant at 2955 E. 53rd St. is scheduled to open at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1.
On that day, the first 100 people in line at the restaurant will receive a free t-shirt and a Hawaiian Bros gift card ranging from $25 to $500. Also, one person in line will win free meals at Hawaiian Bros for a year, according to information from the company.
But before that official grand opening day, Hawaiian Bros will hold a VIP event to honor local first responders, medical personnel, academic staff, students and local business employees with a free plate lunch.
Those VIP events will be: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 29; and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 30.
The Hawaiian Bro menu includes plate lunches with white rice, macaroni salad, and a side dish. Other menu items include: the Huli Huli chicken with marinated teriyaki grilled chicken; Honolulu chicken with savory chicken with fresh garlic, green onions and sesame; the Luau pig with slow roasted pork seasoned with sea salt.
The Davenport restaurant site is the first of 10 Iowa locations scheduled to be built in the coming years. Hawaiian Bros expects to build restaurants in Des Moines, Ames, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and several other sites by 2027, according to company officials. (So far, the Davenport site is the only Iowa location listed on the company’s website.)
There are 45 Hawaiian Bros restaurants in nine states as of mid-July. The first Hawaiian Bros opened in Kansas City in 2018 by brothers Cameron and Tyler McNie.
