Wastyn & Associates will offer a five-session, hands-on grant-writing class beginning Wednesday, July 26, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., in person or through Zoom.
Since 2011, Wastyn & Associates has provided grant writing, fundraising, strategic planning, leadership and board development for nonprofit organizations throughout the Quad Cities. The grant-writing courses will show participants how to effectively plan, research and write a competitive grant application, with hands-on exercises, feedback and more, according to a news release.
The course also will show nonprofits how to identify funders with a propensity to support their organization. Participants will leave with a reviewed framework for an effective grant application.
“Grant funders — foundations, corporations and government entities — invest more than half a trillion dollars each year into nonprofit organizations to help them achieve their mission. As competition for these dollars grows, so does the need to write a clear and compelling application,” said Linda Wastyn, company founder and course instructor, in the release.
The five, 90-minute sessions will be held on Wednesdays in-person or through Zoom, including:
- July 26: Pre-writing: Planning your Projects and Finding Funders
- Aug. 9: Writing the Needs Statement
- Aug. 16: Developing your Project Plan
- Sept. 6: Other Grant Elements: Evaluation, Budgets, Attachments
- Sept. 20: Writing Tips
“This is one of the best classes I’ve ever had,” said Trey Barker, co-founder of Barker Farm in Princeton, Illinois, and fall 2022 class attendee. “I love that the lessons are real-world, and we use class examples. It’s not just theory that way.”
