WALCOTT, Iowa – Thousands of people are expected to attend the 44th anniversary Walcott Truckers Jamboree at the Iowa 80 Truckstop.
The event began Thursday morning, July 13, and goes through Saturday, July 15. See a schedule of events here.
Admission, parking and the concerts are free. Complimentary shuttles will be provided from the parking area to the event grounds.
“The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is a summer event you won’t want to miss. We look forward to celebrating America’s truckers and the work they do each day to keep this country rolling,” said Heather DeBaillie, vice president of marketing for the event.
Last year’s jamboree attracted about 50,000 people, event organizers said.
Some of the events at this year’s jamboree will be a Trucker Olympics, pork chop cookout, more than 175 exhibits, live music and Super Truck Beauty Contest.
The country band Shenandoah will be the headliner at 7 p.m. Friday, at the Main Stage. The Grammy Award winning group became well known for hits “Two Dozen Roses,” “Church on Cumberland Road” and “Next to You, Next to Me” as well as such achingly beautiful classics as “I Want to be Loved Like That.”
Some of the other bands scheduled to play at the jamboree include: Electric Shock at 7 p.m. Thursday; Dirt Road Rockers at 5 p.m. Friday; and Dani Lynn Howe and Band at 1 p.m. Saturday.
There will also be a fireworks display at dusk Friday, which will be around 9 p.m.
