Quad City Bank & Trust (QCBT) helped provide Arconic Jr. Bix race registrations to local school children at Madison Elementary School in Davenport. Through QCBT’s sponsorship, fifth-grade students also received a free pair of high-quality running shoes.

The Running Wild shoe store has remained a partner to fit the children for the shoes and has even added several color options for them to make their shoe choices even more custom. This year, shoes were recently presented to the students in a special assembly that took place in the Madison Elementary auditorium.

The shoes were worn by students during the Madison field day on Wednesday, May 27, with volunteers from Quad City Bank & Trust, and other local partners through United for Schools initiatives. Volunteers helped cheer the children on as they ran around the schoolyard in what is now certified as a “Virtual Bix” race.

“Once again, these kids will get the full race experience on their home turf with their friends, teachers and supporters cheering them on.  We also can’t wait to see many of these kids and teachers this July at the starting line for the Arconic Jr. Bix, the Prairie Farms Quick Bix, or the full Quad-City Times Bix 7,” said Michelle Juehring, race director for the Quad-City Times Bix 7 in reference to the free race registrations provided by QCBT to Madison students, staff and faculty members.

“We are thrilled at all the community support we are receiving here at Madison Elementary.  Watching the joy on our students’ faces as they lace up their shoes and race across the finish line is so exciting.  These will be memories and healthy habits they will take with them as they go into summertime,” said Brianne Bar, Madison Elementary School principal.

QCBT is proud to sponsor not only a key Quad Cities summer event, but to use that sponsorship to bring awareness and inspiration to local students. “I believe we are the place for promise and prosperity in the Quad Cities region. It is important to us to really demonstrate our commitment to the community, not just talk about it.  Knowing so many of our employees are taking time to volunteer on site for the field day festivities and the impact it has perfectly demonstrates that,” said Laura “Divot” Ekizian, president and CEO of QCBT.

The 52nd annual running of the Quad-City Times Bix 7 will take place on Saturday, July 25, in downtown Davenport.

Quad City Bank & Trust was founded in 1994 on the idea that relationships matter. Over 30 years later, Quad City Bank & Trust is proud to be a local community bank with over $3 billion in assets, providing full-service commercial and consumer banking, correspondent banking, trust and asset management services. The bank is headquartered in Bettendorf, and employs 166 individuals at five convenient locations throughout the Quad Cities area.
