MUSCATINE, Iowa — With more than a decade of municipal finance experience and a strong record of community service, LeAnna McCullough has been appointed as the City of Muscatine’s finance director.
She was officially sworn in Tuesday, April 21, by Muscatine Mayor Brad Bark during a city council meeting.
“LeAnna has demonstrated exceptional financial expertise, professionalism, and a deep commitment to serving the residents of Muscatine,” the mayor said during the ceremony. “Her leadership will continue to strengthen the city’s financial stewardship and long‑term stability.”
Ms. McCullough previously served as the city’s accounting supervisor, playing a central role in long‑range financial planning, annual budget development, and strengthening internal financial processes. In a news release, the city said her leadership has supported greater transparency, modernized reporting tools, and improved collaboration across city departments.
“Muscatine is a special place, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to support the city’s mission through responsible financial management,” Ms. McCullough said. “I look forward to working with our talented team to ensure strong fiscal health for years to come.”
City Administrator Matt Mardesen applauded Ms. McCullough for her proven leadership and her commitment to the city’s long‑term financial health.
“LeAnna brings a deep understanding of municipal finance and a steady, solutions‑focused approach to her work,” Mr. Mardesen said. “She has earned the trust of our departments, our leadership team, and our community.”
In her new role, Ms. McCullough will oversee the city’s financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, payroll, debt management, and financial reporting. She also will guide long‑term financial strategy and support the council’s decision‑making through clear, accessible financial analysis.
She assumed the position effective immediately after being sworn in.
