Locals wage Battle of the Businesses to support Common Chord

    Quad Cities business and community leaders will take to the stage Saturday, April 11, for the Battle of the Businesses, an annual fundraiser for Common Chord’s music education programs. 

    Bands representing a handful of businesses and organizations will share their hidden musical  talents during the 7 p.m. fundraiser in the Redstone Room at Common Chord at Second and Main streets in downtown Davenport. 

    The evening of rock star performances promise to bring some surprises, collaborations and a whole lot of fun. The event was sold out as of Monday, April 6, but supporters are still invited to donation to the spring fundraiser by visiting the website. All proceeds support Common Chord, a QC community music organization. 

    The evening’s performances include special guests Winter Blues Camp Youth Band  “Clock In.” The full lineup includes musicians representing these businesses and organizations: 

    • Bobby Ray Bunch Realty.
    • KLJB-TV FOX 18.
    • KWQC TV6.
    • LoPiez Pizza.
    • The Planning Center.
    • Ruhl&Ruhl Realtors. 
    • Russell. 

    Proceeds will benefit Common Chord’s educational programs including InTune Music Mentoring; Acoustic Music Clubs for youth and adults with developmental or 

    intellectual disabilities; instrument loans to schools and students; RiverCurrents Tours for local 5th graders; and week-long Rock and Blues Camps for teens. 

    “We are activating the power of music to make our community even better, and these leaders are taking center stage,” Steve Ahrens, Common Chord’s director of strategic initiatives, said in a news release. 

    Donations and pledges made that night can be designated to support a band, and the group that raises the most wins the coveted Golden Microphone.  

    Battle of the Businesses is sponsored by The Cultural Trust, Crawford Company, and Modern Woodmen of America.  

    Since 2004, Common Chord has provided educational and enrichment programs for area youth that provide access to musical experiences and build positive relationships. Other programs include the Jerry Brown Acoustic Music Clubs and Kidstock Summer, benefitting K-12 students in Scott and Rock Island counties. For more details, visit www.commonchordqc.org.
