In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, UnityPoint Health – Trinity will place 164 flags at its Rock Island and Bettendorf hospitals on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, to honor survivors of sexual assault.
The flag placement will take place at 10:30 a.m. at UnityPoint Health Rock Island, 2701 17th Street.
The flags represent the 164 survivors who sought care and received treatment at Trinity in 2025. This visual tribute is meant to symbolize their strength, courage, and resilience.
Sexual assault is a far-reaching issue, impacting more than 423,000 people in the United States annually, including approximately one in six women and one in 33 men. The effects can be long-lasting, influencing a survivor’s physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
Trinity is committed to providing expert, compassionate care through its team of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE). These nurses are specially trained in trauma-informed care to support survivors with sensitivity and respect. They guide patients through their care, ensure immediate well-being, and connect them with vital resources after they leave the emergency department.
Trinity operates the only bi-state SANE program in the Quad Cities, offering 24/7 coverage at its hospitals and supporting survivors from communities up to 35 miles away.
