Safer Foundation’s annual Safer Sacks fundraiser is set to return April 23, coinciding with the organization’s 50th anniversary of providing reentry services in the Quad Cities.

Now in its 21st year, the event asks businesses and community members to purchase sack lunches to support programs that assist individuals with criminal records. This year’s goal is to sell 2,250 lunches.

Participants can also support the event through sponsorships, volunteering to assemble or deliver lunches, or helping promote the fundraiser to other local businesses and organizations.

“As we celebrate 50 years of second chances, this campaign is not just about one day,” said Erica Lee, LMSW, associate vice president of regional operations for the Quad Cities at Safer Foundation. “It is about continuing the momentum, expanding opportunity, and ensuring more individuals have access to the support they need to move forward.”

Founded in 1972, Safer Foundation has spent more than five decades working to remove systemic and societal barriers that complicate reentry for justice-involved individuals. The organization provides stabilizing support, employment assistance, education, and advocacy aimed at helping people with criminal records achieve long-term stability and self-sufficiency.

The organization can be reached at [email protected] or 563-823-1854.
