Molina Healthcare of Illinois announced Tuesday, Feb. 3, that it is partnering with Mae, a digital maternal health platform, to provide enhanced pregnancy and postpartum support services to expectant mothers across the state.

The collaboration will give Molina Medicaid members access to real-time digital symptom monitoring designed to identify and address physical and social risks early in the maternal health journey. The program also connects members with a network of vetted, insurance-eligible doulas for emotional, physical, and educational support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Members will also be offered small, group-based education and resources.

“We are proud to partner with Mae in giving new mothers access to a digital health platform that will help them get the care they need for a healthy pregnancy, safe delivery, and strong start for their baby,” Kris Classen, plan president at Molina Healthcare of Illinois, said in a news release.

The partnership comes as Illinois prioritizes maternal health, including the recent extension of postpartum Medicaid coverage. In Illinois, where Medicaid covers more than 40% of all births, the preterm birth rate is 10.4%. Mae’s platform has shown a 41% reduction in preterm birth rates among engaged members, according to the organizations.

“By combining data-driven insights with the power of community-based support, we are not just improving individual experiences – we are driving the systemic changes necessary to improve maternal health outcomes and experiences,” said Maya Hardigan, founder and CEO of Mae.

Molina members seeking information on accessing Mae’s services can contact Molina Member Services at (855) 687-7861.
