NORTH LIBERTY and ALTOONA, Iowa — The Iowa Donor Network (IDN) announced that 2025 was a year marked by continued generosity, with Iowans transforming lives through organ and tissue donation.

According to the network’s annual reflection, released on Thursday, Jan. 29, a total of 1,604 donor families were served last year. These selfless acts resulted in 124 organ donors giving the gift of life, 376 organs being transplanted, and another 144 organs recovered for research. Additionally, 1,308 tissue donors helped restore health and provide healing.

The year also brought a significant change in leadership for the organization. Long-time CEO Suzanne Conrad retired after decades of service, during which she grew IDN into one of the nation’s leading organ procurement organizations. Philip Blumberg succeeded Ms. Conrad in 2025, bringing a renewed focus on innovation and collaboration to the mission, the news release said.

“Iowa Donor Network’s success is built on the compassion and generosity of donors and their families,” said Mr. Blumberg, IDN’s new CEO. “In their most difficult moments, they choose to give others the chance to live and heal. Their generosity is an inspiration, and we are deeply grateful to honor their loved ones and their legacy.”

IDN works with hospitals, transplant centers, EMS providers, medical examiners and other healthcare partners across the state to maximize every opportunity for donation.

The network encourages anyone to register to become an organ and tissue donor. More information or a link to the donor registry can be found at www.IowaDonorNetwork.org.
