The QC Environmental Film Series will screen the documentary Out of Plain Sight  at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 25, at the St. Ambrose Galvin Fine Arts Center in Davenport.

The film follows Los Angeles Times Environmental Reporter Rosanna Xia as she uncovers the secret dumping of up to half a million barrels of toxic waste off the coast of Southern California. Ms. Xia, a Pulitzer Prize finalist, explores the environmental disaster and its long-term implications for people and the ecosystem.

Ms. Xia will travel from Los Angeles to serve as the reflection speaker and participate in a question-and-answer session immediately following the screening.

An ENVIRO Connect session will precede the film at 2 p.m. in the Galvin Fine Arts Center lobby. The networking will allow attendees to meet representatives from environmental organizations whose missions align with the film’s theme including the North Scott Press, Sierra Club Water Sentinels, Sierra Club Eagle View Group, Nahant Marsh, and River Action. The film screening will follow at 3 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at qcenvironmentalfilmseries.org. Individual adult tickets are $10, and a season pass is available for $40. Students are admitted for free.
