Jennifer von Kaenel, Western Illinois University’s director of corporate and foundation relations, has been named the Council of Administrative Personnel (COAP) Employee of the Month for January. “It is an absolute honor to nominate Jennifer von Kaenel for recognition of her strong dedication, leadership and service to WIU and the greater community,” her nominator wrote.

Throughout her  WIU tenure, Ms. von Kaenel has been involved in corporate relations, development, fundraising and community engagement. Over the past year, she was a key contributor to the planning and implementation of the University’s Innovation Campus initiative. That involved months of coordinating with university partners and managing budgets. She leads teams and works with committees across multiple institutions.

Her work also supports WIU’s mission of advancing equity, social justice and opportunity by serving as a connection point between WIU and the community. She helps promote access and engagement while supporting the university’s role as a resource for economic, educational, cultural, environmental and community development.

Outside of her professional duties, Ms. von Kaenel is president of the Moline Kiwanis Club, dedicating her time to serving children in the region. She  is known for serving as a visible ambassador for WIU, frequently volunteering after hours and traveling to Macomb to support university events.

The COAP Employee of the Month award recognizes WIU employees who exceed their regular duties. Recipients receive a reserved parking space for one month and university recognition.
