The QCBJ devotes the Newsmakers series to looking back on some of the biggest and most noteworthy stories we covered in 2025 across the Quad Cities region. Each story also includes a small update on the topic or news event. The stories are not ranked, but rather, appear in chronological order.
The original story ran May 2025
In his first 100 days as company president and CEO, Todd Gipple took QCR Holdings Inc. “Relationship Driven” motto to heart.
Promoted last May, he tasked himself with meeting the company’s 1,000+ team members in person to forge new relationships by traveling near and far across its four banking markets. He met with employees not only in his Quad Cities hometown market but also in the Cedar Rapids, central Iowa and southwest Missouri bank markets.
“I felt that it was important to talk with them about our strategic focus, my vision for the future, and how we can all work together to further build on our great culture here at QCRH,” he told the QCBJ. In addition, he was devoted to meeting all of QCRH’s board members and some of the company’s best clients and shareholders. “It was important to lean into and further strengthen our relationships with our teammates, our clients, our communities and our shareholders,” Mr. Gipple said.
He also is proud to point out how QCRH delivered a record earnings report for the third quarter. “It further demonstrates the strength of our company,” and reinforced how “it took all 1,000 of our teammates to create that level of performance.”
Also during his new role’s honeymoon phase, Mr. Gipple proudly scooped a shovelful of dirt at QCRH’s ceremonial groundbreaking in May — marking the start of its new headquarters and QCBT branch in north Bettendorf.
When a wet spring and early summer challenged excavation and pre-foundation work, he said “we shifted our focus to the site itself and were able to complete the roadwork, pond, and other key site preparation priorities.” (The project team includes Russell, Valley Commercial Construction and Streamline Architects.)
“This building will be a great home for our employees and our clients, as well as a landmark building in the gateway to Bettendorf,” Mr. Gipple said.
