The Moline Community Development Corporation (CDC) is launching its 2026 Handy at Home Workshop Series, a program designed to equip residents with affordable, hands-on home maintenance skills.
The series aims to help Moline residents preserve older properties, reduce repair costs, and strengthen neighborhood stability by focusing on challenges common in historic homes.
All workshops are open to the public and will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. on Mondays at the Butterworth Center & Deere-Wiman House Education Center, 701 12th Ave., Moline.
The 2026 workshop schedule is:
- Jan. 26: Energy Efficiency Essentials (sponsored by MidAmerican Energy).
- Feb. 23: Wired for Success: Wiring Outlets & More (sponsored by Ruhl&Ruhl Realtors).
- March 23: Plumbing Perfections: Bathroom Basics and Beyond (sponsored by eXp Realty).
- April 27: Wet Basement Solutions: Top to Bottom.
- May 18: Pest Control: Unwanted House Guests.
The Moline CDC noted that maintaining the city’s older housing stock can be challenging and costly. Handy at Home participants routinely report saving more than $100 on repairs using the skills learned in each session, the organization said.
